What Blood Tests Are Taken in the ER? – Portsmouth Regional Hospital

There are many
types of blood tests. A couple of the more common
blood tests that we do would be a complete
blood count, which would be to check how
high your red cells are, your white cells, to
see if you’re anemic. If your white blood
cell count is elevated, it could be a sign of
infection or inflammation, or some sort of
stress on your body. So that’s a frequent
test that’s done to help us to assess
what’s wrong with you. Other tests would be what’s
called a basic panel, which checks your electrolytes,
checks your sugar, checks your kidney function. We can do further tests to
check your liver function. There are many tests
that can be done.
