UVA Cancer Center: A Life-Saving Clinical Trial for Mantle Cell Lymphoma

Once you get a diagnosis and they say you got 3 to
5 years to live it really wakes you up In relationships there’s an unspoken agreement that he’ll
always be there You’re not supposed to leave When you see the person you care about
most in the world suffering it just absolutely is like a punch in
the stomach Mantle cell lymphoma is terminal and if it hadn’t been for the trials, I’d have been toast We were so relieved because this is such a new and improved medication mantle cell lymphoma Dr. Williams educated us on how this
medication works, what to be looking for, and so forth. As soon as we walked in the door into the UVA Cancer Center, one of the greeters got up came over, greeted us, and after about
second time she knew my name. When you’re at UVA, you’re at the cutting-edge of science, as well as the cutting edge of treatment. People see me as a person, not a patient We kid each other, I say “I saved your life getting you into clinical
trials now your job is to take care of me” That’s right. Yeah I cancer, but I don’t live to
survive, I live in the moment.
