Sara Cannon Blood Cancer Network | Tara Gregory, M.D. | Colorado Blood Cancer Institute

– The Colorado Blood Cancer Institute does participate in the Sarah
Cannon Research Institute. Sarah Cannon, or we call it SCRI, is a big group that’s brought
together different programs that take care of patients
with blood cancers in terms of doing research together and being able to help our
patients on a national scale. One of the things that
Sarah Cannon does do is it has what we call a hem consortium, which is a big group that helps us look at how we do research with
patients with blood cancers. That way, we can make different
research studies available to patients that may have been brought up to the attention in Nashville, but we wanna open it here in Denver so that our patients have
access to that study as well. We then, within Sarah Cannon,
also focus on disease groups. So I participate in the
multiple myeloma research group. That encompasses thinking
about what studies are important for us to
open in multiple myeloma as a group in general, nationally, but then also what’s important for our patients to have
available here in Denver. Then we think about the disease as a whole and what’s important for us, to make sure that patients are getting
adequate treatment throughout each of our sites
and that we’re paying attention to all the new information
that’s coming out about disease treatment, how to look at assessing our patients, and offers the patients’
best supportive care as well.
