Model and actor Godfrey Gao dead at 35 after heart attack on set  – News


 Taiwanese-Canadian star Godfrey Gao has died at the age of 35 following a “sudden cardiac death”, a show producer for Chinese reality show Chase Me confirmed  Model and actor Godfrey fell and lost consciousness during a running event on the Chinese variety show on Wednesday  The show’s producers confirmed that he had been taken to hospital but sadly died  A statement read: “Guest participant Godfrey suddenly collapsed to the ground while running The programme’s on-site paramedics began lifesaving measures immediately and urgently transported him to the hospital  “After two hours of all-out efforts to save him, the hospital [said] he had suffered a sudden cardiac death ”  Godfrey’s agency JetStar Entertainment confirmed the death via a statement released on Chinese social media platform Weibo  It read: “In the early hours of November 27, our beloved Godfrey collapsed while filming on set Following three hours of rescue efforts, he unfortunately left us.  “We are very shocked and saddened and even until now find it impossible to accept ”  His body will now be taken to his birthplace of Taipei in Taiwan.  According to Chinese publication Tencent News, Godfrey was heard shouting “I can’t keep going” as he slowed down during a race, before falling to the ground  Cameramen reportedly initially zoomed in for a close up, believing the fall was to create a dramatic moment for the show  Godfrey gained prominence as the first Asian model to model in a campaign for Louis Vuitton  He also enjoyed success in Hollywood, playing Magnus Bane in Netflix series The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones  He also provided the Madarin voice over of Ken in 2010 Disney and Pixar flick Toy Story 3  Godfrey is best known for his role in Chinese series Remembering Lichuan, and he most recently appeared in sci-fi movie Shanghai Fortress
