Million Hearts: Preventing Heart Attacks and Strokes

Million Hearts: Preventing Heart Attacks and Strokes

I spent ten days in the coronary care intensive care unit, and during that time I lost the baby. I was pretty healthy, I thought. Obviously that proved not to be the case later. Luckily, my wife called 911 immediately. I felt like somebody was going around turning systems off. I was hot to the point of wanting to crawl out of my own skin. I was literally gasping for breath. Little did I know that that was just the beginning of my stroke journey. I consider myself to be in the bonus round. And it reminded me of just how fragile life could be. Be educated about your risks for heart disease and heart attacks, as well as listen to your body. Going to my daughter’s graduation. Playing with my dogs. Spending a lot more time with my grandkids. Me. Me. Me. You.
