Meet Dr. Richard Nash | Colorado Blood Cancer Institute

(gentle airy music) – CBCI is the Colorado
Blood Cancer Institute and we specialize in seeing patients with hematologic malignancies
and we’re a stem cell transplant program as well. I decided to become a physician because I enjoyed working with people. Sometimes it can be very
intense, but it’s something that one is helping individuals
trough their problems and through their issues
that have developed because of their diagnoses of
lymphoma or leukemia. So I enjoy the work, I
love working with people. The reason I decided to
go into the specialty of hematology-oncology and
then into transplantation was I felt that this was
the area that was gonna be the biggest area of growth in medicine. When I first got into the
field, there was very little we could do for many of the patients with hematologic malignancies. Over the years, it’s been
astounding the capabilities that have developed and our
treatments that have developed for management of patients
with various types of hematologic malignancies. When patients come into the clinic and we’re called the
Colorado Blood Cancer Clinic, I think it could be fairly overwhelming. I think that one wants to see
a physician that’s competent, but they also wanna have a
physician that they can relate to on a personal level. I mean, I think it’s part
of my nature as well, but I think that trying
to relate to patients on a personal level is important. I’ve been here now four years in Denver and that’s one of the
things I’ve enjoyed the most is being able to go out and ride a bike.
