Okay in this video series we talked about
how to take blood pressure, the importance of proper technique, and then we also transitioned
into changes in blood pressure with activity, and we used the models here of the cups in
the sense that this would be your body’s need for blood or oxygen at rest and this is your
body’s need for blood or oxygen during exercise. And the important point here is that as you
exercise more your body needs less oxygen molecules per given volume of blood for exercise.
Because it’s become more efficient at utilizing these oxygen molecules for exercise. Most
importantly in regards to the heart, lack of oxygen to specific areas in the heart,
is what we call heart attack. And that’s why exercise is important, and that’s why keeping
your blood pressure under control is important as well. Too high a blood pressure can create
problems, and it’s an indicator that your body is less efficient at delivering oxygen
to the tissues.
