Difference between heart attack and heart failure

Difference between heart attack and heart failure

Hello today I’m going to talk about heart
failure and heart attack. Many people think that they know the difference but they assume
the difference they do not know the difference between heart attack and heart failure. So
today that’s what I’m going to talk about. There are nurses I talked in my office and
outside my office and I discuss with them whether they know the difference they did
tell me the difference but that was not the right thing. So what is heart attack? Heart
attack… basically this is the model of heart I have. Heart is supplied by the blood vessels
this model is not perfect but the blood vessels run like that and across the heart and what
happens is sometimes the blood get clotted in these vessels because of cholesterol, because
of plaque formation over the years, because of multiple reasons and these could be smoking,
hypertension, diabetes cholesterol etc. so whenever the blood get clotted, Inside the
heart vessel, The muscle of the heart (heart is a muscle basically) does not get adequate
blood supply and when he doesn’t get the blood supply and it is pumping all the time
so when it is not getting the blood supply it kind of dies. Because of that there is
a severe pain, when the supply is cut from the muscle acutely then there is severe pain
which is called myocardial infarction or heart attack. Sometime a big area of the heart is
involved other times a small areas is involved and basically that is the heart attack. When
the blood supply to the heart muscle is not good and and most likely if it stops abruptly
then it is heart attack. Now what his heart failure again as I said heart is a muscle
and I will show you how the heart looks it exactly doesn’t look like that but it is
kind of similar so heart is a muscle, very good muscle. There are two types of heart
failure there is a systolic heart failure and then there is the diastolic heart failure.
Systolic heart failure is when the heart cannot pump good and diastolic heart failure is when
the muscle of the heart becomes stiff and it cannot relax, To pump heart has to relax
and if it does does not relax then it cannot pump good. So basically it’s a muscle problem
it is not a heart attack but it can come because of the heart attack. Infact the number one
cause of heart failure is myocardial infarction, heart attacks and ischemic heart disease.
Basically ischemic heart disease is the number one cause o of heart failure but there are
other causes of heart failure which include high blood pressure and hypothyroidism, amyloidosis
hyperthyroidism, hemachromatosis there so many other causes. Arrhythmias, irregular
heart beat like atrial fibrillation. A lot of elderly people have atrial fibrillation
as cause of heart failure. So how do you treat those hot failures and heart attacks. Heart
attack is usually an emergency you end up in the hospital but heart failure is a long-term
problem and basically you take medications which are prescribed by the doctors. Do exercise
as prescribed by doctor, do not smoke, cutdown your salt intake. Control your blood pressure,
control your diabetes. Control any other symptoms and associated diseases. This is going to
